As the House and Senate take up appropriations for the coming fiscal year, the White House Office of Management and Budget has requested a $5 billion “pocket“ rescission of Congress, to reduce federal spending. President Donald Trump has also informally requested funding for projects to “beautify“ the nation’s capital as the federal government has address crime in the District of Columbia.

Today, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., is testifying before Senate Finance Committee, chaired by Mike Crapo of Idaho, regarding the president’s 2026 health care agenda.

The Senate’s Finance, Banking, Energy, and Judiciary Committees are each holding meetings or hearings today to consider the president’s nominees for positions in his administration.

Majority Whip Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming said that President Trump has over 1,000 senior-level appointments awaiting Senate confirmation. He said that, due to the “resistance strategy“ of the minority party, only 135 nominees have been confirmed. Senator Barrasso stated, “Confirming even the most routine nominees is now a bitter fight. It is time to change Senate confirmation rules.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For President Trump to seek God’s wisdom in all his decisions and actions.
  • For Secretary Kennedy to be discerning in his management of the federal health department and in his testimony before the Senate committee.
  • For members of the Senate committees to conduct their confirmation process with integrity.
